Game 056 [Voice]

New Feather season.

[ Joshua gives a frustrated sigh, and there's the sound of sipping as he takes a drink from a cup of coffee. Dammit, Hanekoma, your nervous habits have finally worn off on him two years after the fact. ]

If any of you were wondering, I've been gone for at least a week and a half. And if anyone cares to give me a date, I can give you a more precise duration than that.

[ Not that Joshua is too terribly fond of being in the village, but at least talking to people is good for taking his mind off of things. Being held captive by his lonesome gives him a little too much time to think, and being poked and prodded is almost preferable. As long as things never get as bad as they did his first kidnapping. He'd take a month of solitary confinement over that. ]

They tend to give us an experiment right before the New Feathers come, don't they? Cause or effect, which do you think? [ He takes another sip of coffee. ] And while I'm asking, what did I miss this time?

[She shouldn't respond. She still has half a mind to punch this guy in the face for that kiss that was totally his fault only because that's how she's choosing to remember it.]

[Maybe it's boredom. Or maybe it's just because she doesn't have that many people to talk to in this place.]

Nothing special. Everyone just lost their minds for a few days. You know. The usual.

Have you ever read bad fan-fic? Because that's what it was like for everyone. It was weird.

Whaaat, your world doesn't have fan-fic!? Wow, you're really missing out! That stuff is comedy gold!

But, like. Imagine someone took your life, exaggerated your personality and threw in some really dramatic story-telling cliches and plot twists like long-lost siblings, spontaneous pregnancies, and "he was evil all along!" and you might have an idea of what it was like around here for awhile.

[Hopefully just on that last part and not that middle part...]

It made for a nice break. Something to change-up the usual routine. I mean, for another world, this place gets pretty dull sometimes.

We don't exactly need a harrowing environment to keep things interesting. I grew up in one of those. Not all it's cracked up to be.

But, I mean, the least they could do is give us cable or internet or something.

They could put something on! I mean come on, for all their technological advancements, surely they have some kind of equivalent to TV, right?

Maybe they should just show us whatever it is they're watching right now? I mean, you gotta assume they monitor us in this place, right? Maybe they can do some clever editing and give us an interesting show out of it!

But how do you know it's just the journals? I mean, surely they'd wanna get front row seats to all the weird stuff they throw as us every few weeks!

...now that's just creepy to think about. I mean, cameras are one thing, but to have some kind of all-seeing malnossie in charge of the watching? Gross.
